COVID DREAMS Kukstsemc (Thank you) For Being a Part of My Journey
by Elaine Jules Secwepemc Warrior

Elaine Jules had just completed her term as Councillor of the Adams Lake Indian Band when covid-19 rippled through British Columbia. She took the anti-vaccination route, but it caught up to her and took her down fast.

While intubated, one might think she would just be fighting so her body would win a battle that almost took her life, but no, it was much more than that, Elaine was on another kind of journey, a journey through the dream world.

During her recovery she recalled 22 dreams attesting to her spirit staying close to loved ones through the fog of heavy drugs. And there were physical changes that her strong determination powered through. Afterwards, she was a changed woman because part of her was missing. She reached out and found a ceremony that put her shattered pieces back together, even better than before.

Elaine Jules is from the Secwepemc Nation, the daughter of Mary and Grand Chief Harvey Jules. She is a mother, grandmother, great grandmother, auntie, and sister to five brothers and six sisters. Elaine has a Teaching Degree from Simon Fraser University and bookkeeping background from Cariboo College. She has been the voice of her community on the political platform of Chief and Council and a strong advocate for her community members. Her healing journey started 30 years ago focussing on the overall healing of the mind, body, and soul. Elaine currently resides in the Secwepemc territory located in the interior of British Columbia.
